Mardi Mangus, PT, DPT
I was born, raised, and educated in Buffalo, NY. I attended University of Buffalo for my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and continued on for my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. I have been mentored by Dr. Anita Davis, who is one of the most well known chronic pain Doctors of Physical Therapy specialists in the Jacksonville area who ran the Brooks chronic pain program for 30 years. I have also been a part of interprofessional evaluations of pediatric complex chronic pain cases at Nemours Children’s Hospital. Lastly, I have been mentored by a MDT certified and complex cases specialist Doctor of Physical Therapy in Buffalo, NY.
Persistence, authenticity, compassion and community.
“Promise me you’ll always remember you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”
I like to say that I treat people, not injuries. So, I work with anyone who falls into the category of “people” who feel they are not where they want to be or who have something they want to be better at. That may be a high school athlete with a shoulder injury, an older adult who is overcoming orthopedic surgery and wants to get back to playing pickleball, or someone who simply wants to take a walk around their neighborhood without worrying about falling. If you’re a person with a goal – I want to help you on your journey. Too often, we hear or see how messy healthcare in our country can be. Whether it is lack of communication between different providers about a patient problem, the patient not feeling like they are being listened to before they are being moved on from to the next patient, or feeling like they don’t know their provider enough to open up to them and trust them with what may really be going on. I want the people I work with to not only know that I am there to help them with physical ailments, but to be their advocate and a friendly face when they need it.
There are so many reasons I enjoy working here. The people, the environment, and the quality time. All of my coworkers are simply fun, positive people to be around and who doesn’t love that? Whether I am treating in someone’s home or at our clinic – there is a relaxing feeling to it that I feel creates an environment for healing. Getting to have one on one time with every patient not only helps me be the best clinician I can be for them, but it also lets us get to know each other on a personal level to really drive a successful PT journey for the patient.

What is Mardi’s favorite guilty pleasure?
To decompress I lowlight my room at night with candles and stretch before bed, it really helps me to release the stressors of the day and calm my nervous system. To re-energize, I good fast run will give me a massive endorphin boost that I need often! Motion is lotion! I love to stay moving with surfing, running, and training. When I’m resting I like to read, cook, watch the same Netflix shows over and over and take naps!
